From the end of 2018 up to the present year, this gallery of art displays a fraction of my digital art journey.
The One That Started It All…
On December 30th 2018, I was given an IPad and an Apple Pencil. I was thrilled at the idea of finally being able to create images that could potentially resemble the beautiful artworks I had seen on TV. With the world of animation and digital creation at my fingertips, I dove head first into Graphic Design.
This piece was inspired by the end credits image of Batman: The Animated Series. I was significantly influenced by it’s black/red edginess, and being a huge Percy Jackson fan at the time, I made my first digital piece a painting of my own Original Character insert.
I look back on this piece and face-palm at how emo this really was, but I can still see the love for intense moods and storytelling details that I have kept in my work ever since this drawing.
Whenever I feel like I have not improved, I take the time to look back at this one drawing and consider if my younger self would ever imagine the progress I would make in the years to come.
It’s fun to think about how she would have reacted if she saw the artworks she knew she was going to make in a few years time…

2019
I messed around with a few programs and a lot of brush textures. I very soon gave up and trashed a lot of my works in 2019. These two were the only ones that survived my high bar of expectations.

The next two years, I was was heavily inspired by the Netflix show Arcane. It was also at this time I begun to idolize WLOP’s work as well as a few other artists such as SamDoesArt, RossDraws, and Yuumei.

By this time I was developing a love for realism, and craved to get my work as close to reality as possible, all while still keeping the cartoonist muscle strong and working. These two years, I bounced back and forth between paintings and cartoon sketches.

For this year, I plan on focusing more on storytelling with my artwork. To jump out of my comfort zone and do more dynamic poses and experiment with cartoonish pop textures, while mixing it with realism.
